Start by purchasing the correct key for your vehicle. Once you have your key, a local automotive locksmith or dealership can cut and program it for your vehicle.
Step one, get the right key
The easiest way to identify the right remote is to provide your vehicle's year, make, model, and trim level if you know it, along with whether your vehicle uses a traditional key or push-button start. If you know your original key's FCC ID or part number, even better.
Step two, get it cut and programmed
Once your remote arrives, a locksmith or dealership can cut the emergency insert key if it has one, and program the remote to your vehicle's security system. Some vehicles may require proof of ownership before these services can be performed.
Once you're back on the road
Consider ordering a spare while you still have a working key. It's a small step now that saves you from being stuck without one again later.
